Baptist Health conducted an extensive strategic planning process in 2016 that culminated with the presentation of a new strategic plan called “Baptist Health 2020” that was approved by our board of trustees in September.
Here’s a sign that the new Baptist Health hospital currently under construction is one step closer to becoming a reality –– it now has a leader.
As you know, a destructive tornado moved through the city of Joplin, Missouri on Sunday evening, killing and injuring hundreds of people. One of the local hospitals, St. John’s Regional Medical Center was seriously damaged in the storm. Over the next two days, severe weather including the potential for a significant tornado outbreak is forecast to take place in multiple states including Arkansas.
The Baptist Health Foundation would like to thank everyone who helped make the 2011 Bolo Bash Luncheon such a huge success. We broke records this year by raising over $166,000. All monies will go to this year’s beneficiary The Nursing Excellence Campaign, which will provide the scholarships, training, equipment, awards and continuing education that makes caring possible.
Because of this serious problem, our state’s law enforcement community and a coalition of multiple agencies have established Arkansas Drug Takeback Day. It’s a day for citizens to properly dispose of unneeded prescription drugs by dropping them off at designated collection sites across central Arkansas to prevent the medications from ending up in the hands of teens or others.
The Baptist Health Foundation will launch a three-year fundraising campaign in April as part of an initiative aimed at much-needed renovations to Baptist Health’s flagship campus in Little Rock. Though the Little Rock facility was state of the art in 1974, it is now 37 years old, showing its age in places, and needs improvements to ensure that the entire system remains competitive for future success.
