MALVERN, Ark. – Make strides to improve your health through the Community Walking Program offered by Baptist Health-Hot Spring County.
Through a partnership with the Baptist Health-Hot Spring County Auxiliary and a grant from the Arkansas Coalition for Obesity Prevention, a walking trail was constructed on campus spanning 1,056 feet. It’s located on the south side of the hospital, between the hospital and Sullenberger Street in Malvern.
The program provides a safe environment to walk, and is wheelchair accessible from the rear parking lot. Enrollment is free to those 18 and older, and membership entitles you to a free walker starter kit that includes a walking log, T-shirt, water bottle and pedometer.
Community Walking Program members also receive a monthly newsletter, health education classes and access to free health screenings in the community.
Walking is the most popular aerobic physical activity that helps control weight and improve overall health. A minimum of 30 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity on most days of the week can produce long-term health benefits, according to the U.S. Surgeon General.
