Midwife Madison Needham Joins Baptist Health Women’s Clinic-Fort Smith

FORT SMITH, Ark. – Fort Smith native Madison Needham, CNM, recently joined Baptist Health Women’s Clinic-Fort Smith as a certified nurse midwife. Certified nurse midwives have post-graduate training in obstetrics and gynecology and have passed the national board-certification exam administered by the American College of Nurse Midwives.

Needham earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith in 2019 and went on to earn a Master of Science in Midwifery from Frontier Nursing University last fall.

“I felt compelled to become a Certified Nurse Midwife as I noticed the need in our community for more holistic women’s health providers,” said Needham. “I believe it is of utmost importance to ensure patients are heard and respected when it comes to their health care and I am eager to encourage, counsel, and serve birthing persons in our community.”

Nurse midwives care for women during childbirth, including monitoring both mother and baby during labor, assisting with pain management and delivering the baby. Needham, alongside SaraBeth Askins, CNM, who joined Baptist Health last year, offer numerous obstetrical and gynecological services for women at any stage of life in the hospital and at Baptist Health Women’s Clinic-Fort Smith, including:

  • Wellness Visits/Pap Smears
  • Gynecology
  • Breast Exams
  • Family Planning and Birth Control
  • Pregnancy: Prenatal through Postpartum, including vaginal deliveries
  • Lactation Support
  • Peri-Menopausal and Menopausal Management
