NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The City of North Little Rock held a groundbreaking on Monday, Aug. 1, at 10 a.m. for the new North Little Rock Medical Plaza at the corner of Arkansas Highway 70 and 165 at 4120 Baucum Drive in North Little Rock.
The new North Little Rock Medical Plaza, a partnership between the City of North Little Rock and Baptist Health, will be the first full-service medical clinic in the east part of North Little Rock since another medical practice burned in 2013.
Mayor Terry Hartwick said: “We have been working with Baptist on this clinic since early January 2021, right after I took office. Growing up in Rose City, I remember being treated at a local clinic for a potential serious injury as a young child. Every citizen in North Little Rock should have access to great health care.”
Taggart Architects in North Little Rock will design the clinic and construction will be completed by Alessi Keyes Construction from Maumelle. The project has an estimated total cost of $5 million with a targeted completion date of 14 months from start of construction, which will begin this fall. The new clinic will be approximately 5,000 square feet with state-of-the-art equipment.
“We are thrilled to be working with the City of North Little Rock on the new North Little Rock Medical Plaza,” said Troy Wells, President and CEO of Baptist Health. “In addition to advancing Baptist Health’s mission of providing quality services with Christian compassion, we believe this will help improve health care access for residents in the Rose City neighborhood so they can get the care they need closer to home.”
“I am grateful to have been able to play a small role in bringing health care back to an underserved area of our city and county.” said Dr. Stan Kellar, Chief Medical Officer, Baptist Health Medical Center-North Little Rock. “The community leaders in Rose City and the leadership in the City of North Little Rock have been the main drivers in accomplishing this task. Disparities in health care outcomes are well recognized, and where people live can make a difference in expected life span by many years. Difficulties in accessing care contributes to the disparity. Improving the health of residents in Rose City is our goal and expectation. Baptist Health and our residency programs are excited to play a role in addressing the care needs of this community.”
