VILONIA, Ark. – Baptist Health MedFlight, the healthcare systems’ air ambulance, will be making an appearance from 10 a.m. to noon at the Restoring Children’s Spirits Festival to be held at the Vilonia High School, on Saturday, June 7.
The festival is a free event for the children, families and communities of the recent tornados. Activities begin at 10 a.m. and continue until 6 p.m. A concert will also be provided from 6 to 8 p.m. To show support, MedFlight’s crew will be handing out free flight wing-shaped stickers and adhesive bandage dispensers to those attending.
Celebrating its 30th year of operation, Baptist Health MedFlight makes more than 490 transports annually from across the state as well as makes appearances at community events like the Restoring Children’s Spirits Festival.
MedFlight is equipped with life support systems and staffed by emergency medical care professionals who work to stabilize and treat patients during transport. In fact, Baptist Health is the only healthcare system to provide a special neonatal intensive care team on flights for high-risk mothers-to-be and critically ill infants. It was the first air ambulance transportation service in Arkansas to obtain approval to perform Rapid Sequence Intubation in the field and the only Arkansas-based aeromedical service to transport Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps.
