Through our Centers of Excellence, Little Rock heart hospital, and other comprehensive heart facilities we offer a full range of interrelated cardiovascular services that meet all the cardiac needs of Arkansans -- from education and prevention to emergency care and diagnostics, from treatment, intervention and transplantation to rehabilitation.

Centers of Excellence

Through our Centers of Excellence, BAPTIST HEALTH Heart Services takes pride in offering a full range of care designed to meet all the cardiac needs of the people of Arkansas. We provide 24-hour chest pain centers at all of the BAPTIST HEALTH Medical Centers, along with the latest in diagnostics and interventions as well as heart surgery and transplants.

Cardiac Support Group

We know after a heart attack or heart procedure, emotions need healing too. If you or your family have been touched by heart disease, come meet with others. By “sharing and caring,” we learn healthy ways to cope with feelings and feel more comfortable in addressing recovery issues.

New American Heart Association Cardiovascular Health Assessment Guidelines for Adults:
These assessments should begin at age 20
Assessment

Weight/ BMI/waist circumference Every 2 years
Blood pressure Every 2 years
Pulse Every 2 years
Smoking, diet, physical activity, stress Every visit
Lipid profile Every 5 years if no other risk factors
Every 2 years if other risk factors are present
Fasting blood sugar Every 5 years if no other risk factors
Every 2 years if other risk factors are present
Global cardiac risk calculation Calculate on all those age 40 or older and
those with 2 or more risk factors
* Note - Assessment guidelines are based on American Heart Association recommendations. Guidelines do not take the place of your personal physician's recommendations.

All tests recommended by the American Heart Association for risk assessment are included:

    Complete Lipid Analysis
    Fasting Blood Sugar
    Blood Pressure
    Body Mass Index
    Waist Circumference
    Family History
    High Sensitivity C-Reactive Protein

Screening also includes an educational session with Health Educators and Dietitian to learn how to modify your risk. Comprehensive report and results sent to you and to your physician on request. Cardiovascular Learning Center

Every day brings exciting new advances in cardiac care and treatment. At BAPTIST HEALTH, we believe it's important to make this information available to patients, their families, and members of the community. The Cardiovascular Learning Center is designed to provided quality information about cardiac disorder, the latest treatment options and procedures, and new medications. It's everything you need to know about the hear in one convenient location. The Cardiovascular Learning Center has a comprehensive library of books and videos available for daily checkout. Topics include:

  •   Prevention of heart disease
  •   High blood pressure
  •   Cholesterol
  •   Medications
  •   Cardiac rehab
  •   Smoking cessation
  •   Women and heart disease
  •   A variety of heart procedures and devices

And if you need help with a special question, the Cardiovascular Learning Center is staffed by cardiac professionals during peak hours. You can visit the Cardiovascular Learning Center in the Hickingbotham Outpatient Center, Third Floor 9500 Kanis Road, Little Rock, AR 72205 (on the campus of BAPTIST HEALTH Medical Center-Little Rock).
